My BFF's little sister had a baby and I had him a couple of little ribbon loop blankies for her to snuggle with. One all in bright, gender neutral, because they didn't know if it was going to be a boy or a girl. The other is all purples because it turned out to be a girl, and I knew Sarahs favorite color was purple. I love them both!

The "cat-butt" quilt

Named because one of the fabrics has cats on it, and we didn't fussy-cut (cut to deliberately center the cat pictures) and once it was all assembled we realized we had a whole quilt with just kitty heinies showing for this fabric. OOPS! It's just a pieced top for now, it will eventually be batted and backed and become a small couch throw.

To my resident fuzzy-butts!

First t come live with me was the Queen Bee of the house, Miss Sprout, aka Princess Grumpybutt, and the one who really would prefer to be an only kitty:

Then we found ourselves with Miss Gonzo, aka Miss Moody, Monkeybutt, Girlie and Moogers when I was unable to resist the lure of the Worlds! Tiniest! Kitten! and brought her home with me:

Mr. Bug joined us about 3 years ago as a tiny kitten after my friend took in a stray who proceded to have kittens, and has blossomed into a fat, sweet, snuggly boy:
And finally we have Mr. Georgie Pordgie, resident snuggler, annoyerer of the girl-kitties, abuser of the pup, wild-child and knocker-over-er of all things that shouldn't be knocked over:

And our resident Poochie Pup, Miss Daphne the Doodlebutt, aka Daph-o-Dilly, aka Miss Poots, or sometimes just plain Poop. There are many other nicknames she has earned, but not all are meant to be heard in polite society. She's a mere 21 months old, not quite 2, and still very much a puppy, although her massive feet and 50-ish lbs doesn't really look it most times. I can assure you, I have quite the chewed up show collection to prove it. She's a doll though, and means well, she just can't always control or help herself.

So those are my not-so-helpfull helpers, and resident shedders. They are all quite sweet and lovable, even if they drive me bonkers most days. :)

Yellow & Purple!

Tiny little security blankets with fun loops of ribbon around the edges! Too cute, and super snuggle-worthy. The yellow one is a patchworked scrappy-quilt front with a soft off white chenille backing, and the lavender one is a simple square of cute butterfly fabric with a super soft fluffy white backing. I love making these - they go together so quick, and its just the most fun baby gift for me.

Just a quick post to show you all my latest creation - an embroidered and beaded crazy quilt square I just finished tonight. Pardon the not-so-great picture, it was taken indoors and the colors got all washed out, and the picture is still sort of dark. Anyway, it goes in the mail tomorrow, off to its new life on the west coast. I hope she loves it as much as I do! :)

Ahh.. baby showers. I love going to them because making the stuff for them is just so fun!
Mommy-to-be got a very fun t-shirt with a cute iron-on so she can be a stylish new Mommy.

I went to a baby shower last weekend, and like any true craft-addict, I brought some lovely home-made gifts for Momma-to-be. Here is a very cute buggy security blanket - super soft flannel backed with even softer and fuzzier minky fabric, and surrounded with fun multi-colored loops of ribbon that babies just love to play with.

I also had the same woman who dyed the sling fabric dye me a couple of onsies for Momma-to-be. The green one is a 3-6 month size, and the blue is a 12 month size. Now Baby is all set with cool hippy wear for his first year. :)

I found a woman online who does custom fabric dyeing, and I loved her work, so I contacted her to have her dye 4 yards of fabric for me to make a sling for an upcoming baby shower. These pictures barely do the fabric justice - the colors are SO vivid and gorgeous!
Here is the sling all folded with the rings firmly sewn in place.
And a shot of the "tail" with the dyed fabric making a nice border for the lining fabric. I made this sling reversible, so Momma-to-be can pick which side she wants on the outside, the dyed or the simple pale green with some dyed accents.

And the Momma-to-be opening her gift at the baby shower. I can't wait for baby to arrive so I can get an action shot! :)

The holidays have sapped all my crafting time, but I'm back! I listed a few more security blankets in my shop, and I'm working on more. Hopefully now that the holiday madness is over I'll have more free time to sew.

I went to a baby shower today and brought a few homemade gifts with me:

First, a warm and fuzzy quilt for baby to snuggle in:

And a sturdy ring-sling to carry baby around in:

And as modeled by my dear, sweet, patient husband to show it being used as a breastfeeding cover-up:
And with the "Oops I made one too many blocks" quilt block, I used a soft fuzzy backing and made a little ribbon-loop security blanket:

Me? No, not really. I've been busy though. I have made a whole mess if little lovey blankets lately. Ya know, the little flannel quilted blankets with ribbon loops all around the edges? I also bought a TON of felt and flannel and chenille to make quilts and felt blocks and and even more loveys. So fear not, I'm around, I've just been very, very busy.

It's not the best picture, because I didn't take a picture until right before I left for the shower. So one of these days I'll have to borrow it back and get a good clean scan of it. I really have to try harder to remember to scan these before I pack them up, huh?

and fell off! Oh no!!! Ok, not really, I've just been very busy lately. I have made a bunch of shiny new things though! My friend Tim is now a father, as of this past Sunday to sweet little girl Mary Grace, and I made her a sweet little pink taggie blanket (that I seem to have neglected to take a picture of, but Heather can attest to it being very, very cute and OH so girly-girl) , and a set of sweet little flowery felt name blocks. I hope she loves them as much as I do! :) No pictures of the backside, but it's a mix of hearts, flowers and other simple shapes, all in the same color scheme as the fronts.

Maggies quilt - It's not the best picture, because it never occured to me to take pictures of her with her quilt at Christmas in Alabama - but this is the finished top laid out on our dining room table. I need to come up with a better way to get quilt pictures. I also need to take pictures of the quilts I make before I give them away. I made 6 quilts for christmas, and I only have pictures of this one.
